Guided Cross Country Skiing in Waterton

Join us! Experience a Waterton winter as you glide across the snow on cross-country skis.

Have you ever wondered ‘What If’ ? Sharing tales of past, present and “What If ?” Let us spark your imagination while improving your glide.

Novice to Intermediate skiers welcome. We get you started and help you improve your technique while having some fun! 

Our local CANSI certified guide will teach and entertain you and your family as you experience this unique corner of southwest Alberta. Waterton is our home and we look forward to sharing it with you!

Details:

  • Location: Varied based on weather and snow conditions.  Your guide will be in contact with you prior to your scheduled activity about the chosen location within Waterton Lakes National Park.

  • Transportation: You will need to meet at the activity location via your own transportation.

  • Duration:  This excursion runs for approximately 2 hours and covers a distance of 5.5 km.

  • Skill/Fitness level:  This activity is suitable for beginner cross country skiers.  If you are fit enough to hike then you are fit enough to x-country ski.

  • Equipment Needed:  Properly fitting cross country ski boots, skis and poles.  If you have your own gear please feel free to use it.  Rental equipment can be provided at an additional cost.  Please dress appropriately for winter conditions.  It is better to have extra warm clothing than not enough.

  • Minimum age of 8 for this activity.  An adult must accompany minors between 8 and 17.

Winter Heritage Walk ‘n’ Talks

Join our Local Interpretive Guides for a trip back in time and history.

Walk around the Waterton Townsite, Prince of Wales Hill or Linnet Lake while learning about the History of Waterton in winter and why this place is so unique this time of year.

This activity is led by local residents and Waterton Guides, one who has lived here year round for over 50 years!

  • Transportation: You will need to meet at the activity location via your own transportation.

  • Duration:  This excursion runs for approximately 1 hours and covers a distance of 1.5 km.

  • Skill/Fitness level:  This activity is suitable for most fitness levels. You must be able to walk at least 1 km for this activity.

  • Equipment:  Please dress appropriately for winter conditions.  It is better to have extra warm clothing than not enough. The streets of Waterton as well as the chosen paths can be slippery, so please wear solid winter footwear. Micro-spikes or “Yak Trax” are recommended.

  • No minimum age for this activity.   An adult must accompany minors.
